Quick & easy Halloween Makeup tutorial for Ageing

Be afraid, be very afraid... Here is my quick and easy Halloween tutorial in how to age skin. This literally only took me about 10 minutes so if you don't have a lot if time to get creepy I suggest this as your go to look.

First, I applied my normal foundation all over my face with a duo fibre brush just to give coverage, then I powdered thoroughly to give your skin that dry look. Remember to put foundation on your lips as well as it will help to emphasize any cracks and give you a base to work on.

Next, depending on if you are scared of wrinkles or not is the fun part! Start scrunchingy our face up smiling, frowning, etc and you will see the natural parts of the face where lines/wrinkles will develop in time. Eek!

I took a thin liner brush dipped it into a matte brown shadow and started tracing lines into my nasolabial folds (lines around your cheeks/mouth) get your heads out of the gutter! Basically I traced with a thin line through every wrinkle for emphasis and went back over it where I wanted particularly deep wrinkles with a matte red shadow and blended around my nose. You can skip this next part if you want but to make the wrinkles truly stand out I highlighted around the wrinkles with a light reflecting concealer and blended well.

To do the lips I again used the thin liner brush with some light brown matte shadow and traced the vey faint lines that are already there.

I patted some white eyeshadow onto my brows to grey them up a bit, and patted baby powder through my hair to complete the look. Just through on a head scarf and some old ladies clothes and you are good to go!

Products used:

Thin liner brush/ thin eyeshadow crease brush
Matte brown shadow
Matte red shadow
Normal foundation and duo fibre brush
Baby powder for hair
White matte shadow for brows

My Luxury Wishlist

These Alex and Ani bracelets are fab and I love the quotes on them! I think for thirty euro ey are very good value, and you can get them in a silver or gold finish. Which do you prefer?

Every wishlist has to have its share of bling and luxury items so I decided to include the Mi Moneda chain. It has been on my dream shopping list forever and a day but it is very pricey coming in at €193.

I'm mad for quotes as you can see. Carpe diem translates from Latin as 'seize the day'. The back of the coin also has the writing 'live the life you love, love the life you live,' inscribed on the back. I think it's a gorgeous piece of jewelry that will never date. Maybe an extra special present for someone!

I received a sample size of this perfume Lady million and I am crazy  about the scent. It is gorgeous. Just my kind of fragrance, musky and not too sweet, this retails at €74 for 50ml.

This Marc by Marc Jacobs watch is to die for! I think it's the extra blind courtesy of Michael kors which makes it. I never really have worm a watch but I think I would make an exception for this beauty! Couldn't find the exact watch online but found one similar in Brown Thomas for €199.

Finally, this Michael kors jetset handbag is a must have on the fash packs list. It's the perfect size for a tote bag and has a big strap which I love on my bags so I can carry them on my shoulder or over my arm. I particularly like it in this fetching burgundy colour, it sells for €250.

What's on your luxury wish list? Pop a comment below! Xx

Success isn't a one day thing

Sorry for the lack of posting, I just have been feeling completely overwhelmed lately. I now have three jobs, go to college full time and have so many assignments coming up. I have also just found out that I am to plan our magazine's college launch and be Web Editor and manage our online presence. It's safe to say that I have been and am going to be very very busy soon. I'm not complaining, I have so much to be thankful for. I have put myself out there for things and they have returned to me tenfold. I just am feeling overwhelemed because I didn't stop to think how busy you will be if you want to be successful. I have so many aspiriations and goals that sometimes I feel if I wasn't an ambitious person, I would be able to take a breather. Life however, would be boring. I have things to aim for, tasks to complete and it is feeling a little bit like it's piling up on top of me. This all comes at a time when I am trying to lose weight, and have just moved out of home for the first time. I suppose you would say this is when the realisation has dawned that it is 'welcome to the real world' now.

Today, in college a lecturer got us to search a certain person LinkedIn profile, which listed all of their achievements, and positions they had held in media. I don't think that was fair because I think it made us all realise how far we are from our goals. It is wrong to compare yourself to other people. We need to focus more on 'self-love' as strange as it sounds and building our own confidence and worth without looking up at a mountain that seems impossible at times to climb.

I don't really know if this blog post has an aim, but if you are in the same situation as me it might get a little bit of weight off your mind and shoulders by knowing that it doesn't matter what stage in life you are at you can feel overwhelmed. It is better to feel like this, and know you ca achieve success than wallow in self pity and not try. Reach for the moon, even if you miss you will still be among stars.

My Skincare Routine

A major buzz word featured on all my skincare products is 'gentle'. I have highly sensitive skin and suffer from some Rosacea and so I tend to be very careful when it comes to what I put on my skin.

I swear by the No7 soft and soothed gentle cream cleanser suitable for all skin types. I think it retails for €11.50 in Boots, hang onto those vouchers you get and you can get it for around €4.50! Such a bargain and so worth the money. I use cotton wool dampened with hot water on my face after I have massaged the cream cleanser into my face.

I recently bought the Nivea extra gentle eye makeup remover as I ended up looking like a panda and my usual cream cleanser couldn't quite remove my gel liner and mascara. It's really great and doesn't sting your eyes like a lot of eye makeup removers. It also is quite long lasting, I bought this in my local chemist Mc Cormacks in Maynooth. It is such a fantastic chemist for students in the town adm they offer a great discount which is always a plus.

My last step is the Nivea Sensitive day cream. It is formulated to reduce redness in the skin which is a plus and it is a really nice everyday moisturiser. Not too thick and greasy but not watery either. It's the perfect consistency to feel like you are giving your skin a good moisture booster yet your makeup can be applied soon enough afterwards without melting off your face.

So that's my skincare routine in three easy steps. I swear by the brands that have been around a. Long time but am always willing to try out new products to see how my skin interacts with it. This is my best value skincare recommendations for those with sensitive skin or skin that is easily irritated. Have you tried these products? What skincare saviour do you swear by? Tell me in the comments below x

October beauty haul

Hey guys! Okay, I have to firstly apologise with how lax I have been at posting the last while so ai thought a little beauty haul review would ease me back into it all!

I treated myself to these little beauties above in Boots the other night. I really wanted to try and recreate the Kylie Jenner lip so I went in search of my perfect nude. Nude lipstick doesn't have to mean concealer colour lips girls! Nude lipstick should be taken to mean the best shade of your lips when they are at their natural best. I stumbled across Rimmel lipstick in Asia, and the 1000 kisses lip liner in Tiramisu. Below is my attempt at recreating a full pout a la Kylie Jenner.

The colour of the lippy is gorgeous, creamy, easy to apply and not too glossy. It is also long lasting for a lippy that is not matte. You can definitely expect to get a few hours for this lipstick when lakes with liner.

I was craving a nude nail - there seems to be a bit of a theme going on here 😉 so I took to Rimmel once again after one of my favourite bloggers over at Blather and Beauty recommended to me Rimmel 'Soul Session'. It is a gorgeous pinky beige nude tone.

My go to powder used to be a translucent powder from Catrice! but now I am loving wet n wild coverall powder. It adds some coverage and is super silky to apply. It also has a fantastic prize at €3.99.

I also wanted to pick up a new gel liner, and I am adoring the Rimmel scandaleyes liner. The only thing I hate about gel liner is how hard it is to clean off the brush! I used the Rimmel Scadaleyes gel liner in black on my eyes below.

When you spent €12 on Rimmel products you could receive a free lash Accelerator mascara which I haven't yet used yet but will definitely do a review on when I do!

I also bought the Wake me up concealer from Rimmel that I thought would brighten up my under eye area. The liquid is a little bit thick for my liking though and the colur isn't great. It is supposedly true ivory but darker than my foundation in the same shade. 😳

Why not treat yourself to a few beauty bits to brighten up your October? Don't worry if you can't afford the beauty halls of a Brown Thomas just head to Boots and pick up some hard working affordable options instead 😊😊

Balmi lipbalm, Butter London nail scrubbers and Hello breath sprayreview

Say hello to fresh breath with this hello pink grapefruit breath spray! Kiss goodbye to dry, chapped lips with this strawberry flavour balmi lip balm and scrub off that old polish with abutter London nail scrubbers!

This trio of products that I was sent are all very useful which I love, thank you to Kieran from the national beauty distribution co, who sent me out these little goodies to try. I am pleased to announce after a thorough road test this balmi lip balm is without a doubt my most favourite lip balm. The scent is gorgeous, it applies so smooth like butter. It isn't sticky and comes in the cutest little tub that you can attach to your purse as a key ring.

Balmi lip balm is available in Boots, and retails around the €3.50 mark which is good value for a lip product I know works and will last the autumn and maybe the winter! If not, I will definitely be repurchasing.

The hello breath spray comes in such a little quirky spray bottle and is handy and discreet for when you are on the go. It also contains no alcohol. I believe these hello products had a huge launch recently and I have seen the mouthwash version I'm Boots already.

Now, these butter London nail scrubbers were the item that I was most excited to try. I was a little bit let down however. I was expecting a miracle one swipe product to remove glittery. Ail varnish but instead it was like a little nail polish remover soaked wipe. You definitely still had to scrub anyway which is probably why these have the name 'nail scrubbers'! It took the varnish off in the end with probably less hassle than it would with a cotton ball and nail varnish remover but sadly nothing to write home about.

Nevertheless I really enjoyed using the other products I was sent and would highly recommend you hotfoot it down to Boots to purchase these little handbag beauty fixes!

Have you tried any hello products yet? What do you think of the balmi lip balm? Leave the answers in the comments below :)

Keep on blogging it beautiful xoxo
